Annihilation gets the award for the gnarliest movie I have ever seen. Especially that last dance between Natalie Portman and her clones silver surfer lol. Tessa Thompson is the beating science of this movie. The true theory hunter in this sea of true and false. Seeing this alteration of region as an amplification of self as opposed to an alien that needed to be tamed or destroyed is quite a turn. I would say a less nefarious cousin of Prometheus’ David. She just wanted to become more — not see everybody crushed under the unfathomable. At the end, I’m like who wouldn’t want to morph into a scaffold of flowers instead of being eaten by a mutated wolf?
